This project aims to contribute to reduced conflict and violence through improved responsiveness of community conflict mechanisms and sustainable natural resource governance in four districts of Somaliland and Puntland. The action has the following specific outcomes;

(i)Women’s ability to negotiate non-violent conflict resolution at HH and community levels strengthened
To achieve this outcome, the project will focus on enhancing dialogue and knowledge at community level between key actors around conflict management and peacebuilding and establish peace committees in each village. It is hoped that this leads to capacities at the local level to respond to conflict incidents when they arise and women are instrumental in this response.

(ii)Intermittent escalation of resource based conflict reduced through sustainable natural resource governance
To achieve this outcome, the project will focus on reviewing existing legal and traditional NRM policies and unify these. Once unified, the aim is to implement the new NRM policy placing emphasis on networking with local authorities, peace committees, and building the capacities of key stakeholders around integrated natural resource management.
