Emerging best practices of women’s leadership within cocoa farming in Ghana and Côte d’Ivoire

This report of an extensive review of the Cocoa Life program’s approach to promoting women’s leadership within cocoa farming in Ghana and Côte d’Ivoire found that the program’s interventions are having a positive effect on women’s agency, including: enabling women to have greater access to and control over productive and financial resources; strengthening women’s ability to become community leaders and role models in the community; providing structures and processes that enhance the voice and participation of women.

This joint statement, signed by 42 grassroots women-led civil society organisations, human rights and humanitarian agencies, outlines recommendations for commitments by states attending the Global Refugee and Migrant Summits, to ensure the protection and safety of refugee women and girls.

How women forced to flee from Syria are shouldering increased responsibility as they struggle to survive

As the Syrian refugee crisis worsens, women are shouldering increased responsibility for the safety and survival of their families, and are facing additional threats and vulnerabilities as they make the journey through Europe. This report provides a brief insight into the emerging role of women in the Syrian crisis, and the challenges and pressures that Syrian refugee women face.

Women’s economic empowerment is one of four priority areas for CARE’s work, as set out in the CARE 2020 Program Strategy. When women contribute to the resilience of communities in the Sahel through savings and community-based adaptation

This report from Food Tank, CARE International and the CGIAR Research program on Climate Change, Agriculture, and Food Security (CCAFS) demonstrates how inequality determines who eats first and who eats worst, and how this shapes people’s ability to adapt to climate change. The report argues that solutions around food production are not enough, and demands more dialogue and action to address inequality in food systems.
