Role: Business Manager

Team: Women's Economic Empowerment team

My role as Business Manager within the Women’s Economic Empowerment team is to support the team to manage priorities and scope and plan the delivery of the WEE strategy and various projects within this. I am responsible for ensuring that the business operational aspects are in place including business intelligence, and tools and systems to monitor progress against our goal to economically empower 30 million women by 2020.

Since I joined CARE in 2015 I have initiated a longitudinal study of women’s economic empowerment programmes. Initially studying three countries, we aim to increase this to 10 countries to follow participants, and the positive and negative impacts of CARE’s work in their lives, until 2020.

Prior to joining CARE, I designed and led the development of a financial sustainability and marketing toolkit for evaluating NGOs. I have also worked as a business consultant for NGOs, providing advice and guidance for organisational transformation, as well as writing and delivering training courses. I hold a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Middlesex University.

One good thing I’ve read

What’s holding you back? 8 critical choices for women’s success by Linda Austin. It’s about how to get around, over and through the barriers in society, and in women themselves, to tackle the professional and personal roadblocks that hold women back.  It is The road less travelled for girls and women.
