The study drew directly from the experience of those affected by crisis in a range of operating environments: Haiti, Jordan, Malawi, Niger, and the Philippines. The priority was to hear from the project participants themselves and 380 women and men took part in focus group discussions, storytelling and individual interviews. The country-level research was supplemented by a global-level literature review and semi-structured interviews with CARE staff.
What does gender-sensitive cash and voucher assistance look like?
This multi-country, participant-led study asked women, and the men in their communities, what gender-sensitive cash and voucher assistance means to them. From the research we were able to define the elements of gender-sensitive cash and voucher assistance that work, and make recommendations for CARE's work.
