Evicted by climate change: Confronting the gendered impacts of climate-induced displacement

This report highlights the causes and consequences of climate-induced displacement. It argues that climate change exacerbates existing gender inequalities. The report calls for more women’s leadership and greater financial support for gender-just solutions to climate-induced displacement.

Recommendations include:

  • Ensure that women and girls are able to play meaningful roles in shaping more ambitious climate resilience and displacement prevention and response policies and programmes.
  • Scale-up climate action and public climate finance for developing countries, in particular to address displacement drivers with local and women-led actions.
  • Direct at least 25% of humanitarian funding to local organisations, with a particular focus on women-led and women’s rights organisations.
